The SS Great Britain has had a long and hard working life from 1845-1933 thanks to Brunel’s engineering skills. The events and memories of those involved in this epic salvage of her are captured in the animated film ‘The Incredible Journey’
She was transported on an 8,000 mile journey back to Great Britain and arrived back in Avonmouth Docks in Bristol; there the epic restoration work began on 19 July 1970 - back to the dock in which she was built, exactly 127 years to the day after her launch in 1843.
Now you can see her restored into her former glory and discover the lifetime of this amazing ship

Bristol Zoo Gardens has been operating since 11th July 1836 making it the fifth oldest zoo in the world. The zoo is still as popular as ever and has greeted over 90 million visitors since it first opened. It now boasts an award winning education team teaching children about wildlife, the value of nature and the impact today’s society affects the world we live in.
As well as saving over 175 species from extinction in human care and in the wild and are continuing to work on conservation projects across the world today.

At Bristol is a science centre and charity aiming to make ‘Science accessible to all’. The centre first opened in 2000 and specialises in the latest multimedia techniques to inspire and visitors of all age’s ideas and develop there leaning.
It boats a fantastic 3D Ultra High Definition Planetarium which is the only one of its kind in the UK, visitors can also fly through the universe through the comfort of their own seat and discover experimental data visualisation with the joint Date Dome Project
Since opening in 2000, At-Bristol has welcomed over 4 million people through its doors and launched hundreds of exhibits.
